Game-changing features of Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 offers the best productivity software available today. Since its conception as Microsoft Office in November 1990, the platform has been revolutionising the way we go about our daily lives. With tools to improve communication, collaboration, time management, and most importantly productivity, it has gradually become an integral part of millions of businesses around the world.

As we just explained, Microsoft offers tools to achieve a range of different challenges we all face every day, both in-office and when working remotely, but the extent of features it offers is severely understated. With such applications being so famous it is easy to think that is all 365 has in its repertoire – and a good repertoire it would be too – but the platform offers so much more than that.

Let us take a look at a series of smaller features from across Microsoft as a platform.

1. Power Map in Excel: Turning data into a map

The solution for analysing, visualising, and sharing data insights is Power Maps in Excel. It is part of the powerful and interactive data visualisation features in Excel, which are enhanced with Power BI.

You can turn rows of data into a 3D interactive map with Power Map, which includes the ability to filter data using three different filters: List, Range, or Advanced.

2. Working offline and uploading changes later

As you know, your OneDrive storage is synced to your device, so you can choose to work offline on files. Once an internet connection is established, the new versions will automatically be uploaded and stored on OneDrive, and the new version will be sent to all connected devices.

An Email inbox that can de-clutter itself!

Microsoft’s Clutter feature will automatically prioritise messages for you by making your top priority emails visible first. All other emails will be moved to the Clutter folder to view at your own discretion.

3. Office Planner to help organise your team’s workflow

Use this project management tool to create plans, organise and assign tasks, share files, set due dates, and provide status updates. Microsoft Planner will help you and your colleagues plan workflows and prioritise collaboration.

Working anywhere from any device

Your 365/Office subscription comes with the applications as standard, allowing you to work on your Cloud files from any up-to-date web browser on any internet-connected computer – the Office software doesn’t even have to be installed on the computer.

Office mobile apps are also accessible, giving you access to use all your favourite Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, OneDrive, and PowerPoint directly from your tablet or smartphone at the touch of a button from anywhere. These can all be downloaded from the iOS or Android stores.

Every user gets 50GB of storage with Exchange Online for email, calendar, tasks, notes, contacts, and attachments.

The Resume Reading feature for Word documents

With the Resume Reading feature Word automatically bookmarks the last page you were reading in a document so that you can pick up where you left off, even on different devices!
